Well, it all started in the year 2003 after Tyler convinced his completely sober friend Karim that he would be much better off playing bass with his lanky fingers instead of his guitar. $200 later they left their local music shop with a new bass and visions of starting a Rock band. And so the legend begins…
We put up an ad for a drummer and got a response the next day. Our first session with Steve the drummer was a battle to be heard. Our two 10 watt amps were apparently no match for his $3,000 drum kit. But he dug what he couldn’t hear, so we were now a three piece band.
After a few months of jamming and writing; our friend Ryan, who also played guitar, came back from his military post in Korea. We decided two guitars were better than one, and we added a fourth member.
With a fully instrumental band and a small arsenal of songs it was time to look for a vocalist. After countless auditions from talentless “singers” we settled on a dread lock reggae singer named Kenton. It was a unique fit, but soon came unwound due to strong creative differences. It became obvious that it would not work out, and it was time to cut ties and move on.
We decided to forget about vocals and play some instrumental shows, but 6 days before our first scheduled show Ryan cut the tendon in his finger and needed surgery, so the show was cancelled. Frustrated with the lack of progress, Steve the drummer quit the band and left us searching for a new drummer for the next few months.
Fortunately we upgraded our crew with a metal headed, double bass playing, electrical engineering drummer named Julian, and things were starting to fall back into place. However after just a couple of practices with our new drummer, Ryan dropped off the face of the earth. So after about a month without him a friend from school began filling in on our practices, and after another month or so Hiram became our new lightning fast Lead Guitarist.
The search was once again on to find a vocalist and after thousands of auditions we finally met up with a singer who had the intensity and drive we were looking for. With everyone in agreement Avik added his heavy vocals and raw energy to our medley of musicians and so continues the legend of Three Horse Whiskey…
